It is clear President Obama's administration has no regard for the moral and social rights of the people of the United States and instead plans to continue pushing for special interest rights despite no Constitutional authority to do so. In an announcement Friday, the U.S. Departments of Justice and Education released "joint guidance … to help provide educators the information they need to ensure that all students, including transgender students, can attend school in an environment free from discrimination based on sex."
The announcement contained veiled threats to end federal funding to school districts across the country if they do not comply. The announcement dated May 13, 2016, relies on and quotes the Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Office for Civil Rights (OCR), Title IX and Sex Discrimination, of the U.S. Department of Education, and the OCR's Title IX Resource Guide - both updated in April 2015.
This single action tramples on so many rights and libertys it makes my head spin.
Federal Overreach - It is long past time for our State to take back education and end all dependence on federal dollars and influence. Given the choice between complying with this tyrannical 'guidance' or not accepting federal dollars for our school system, I would choose the latter. Ending our dependence will not be an easy task since our dependence on federal funding has increased over the years to the point where it is today. As Utahns, it may take great patience and sacrifice, but we must end our dependence on the federal government. We can start by not allowing our dependence to grow any more than it has and then look for the solutions needed to begin cutting back.
Actual state sovereignty is one of the greatest goals we can set as citizens of this great State. Acquiring the public lands would greatly help in ending our reliance on the federal government.
Gender Identity - Every human being is born with a pair of sex chromosomes. Female humans are born with two X chromosomes, male humans are born with one X and one Y chromosome. Gender identity is determined at conception. Our society today hypocritically screams equal rights for gender identity, which are nothing but new rights for special interests at the expense of the rights of all people. Get over it and go to the XX or XY bathroom depending on your real gender.
As a God loving people, we understand the concept that God would not create women who are men or men who are women. He just wouldn't do it.
I would like to thank my supporters for their hard work in helping my campaign and doing everything they can to comply with the rules and ordinances of the City of Lehi and the various HOA organizations. It's a lot of work, and their integrity speaks volumes. My wife and I are grateful.
Last week many of my Traverse Mountain supporters began distributing campaign signs throughout the community after first speaking with the heads of the HOA to both receive permission and to obtain information on where signs were permitted. Once placed, my supporters checked in again with the HOA to make sure everything was okay and asked them to let them know if there were any issues. They were told everything was fine.
Later that day after receiving several calls, the HOA reversed its permission and determined no one would be allowed to place signs. Upon receiving word of that decision, I immediately asked my supporters to remove all signs in Traverse Mountain where they were not allowed, which they and some HOA staff members did.
We love and support all of the people of our House District comprised of portions of Saratoga Springs and Lehi. We don't live on Traverse Mountain, but up until three years ago we lived within the Traverse Mountain LDS Stake and have many close friends who live there.
We reiterate our intent to work hard and compete aggressively in my campaign to become Representative of Utah House District 6. We will do so with honesty, integrity, respect for our citizens and by following campaign rules along with the rules and laws of our city and communities.
Yesterday I was stopped by a constituent in the Smith's Grocery parking lot. She mentioned she hadn't had the opportunity to attend any of my cottage meetings yet but had some questions for me. She asked about my positions on breastfeeding in public, home births and homeschooling. I told her I supported all three.
Breastfeeding in public. A mother with a nursing child is a natural and beautiful act. I support a mother's right to breastfeed anytime, anywhere and in any manner she deems appropriate.
Home birth. I support a woman's decision to give birth at the location of her choice - especially in the home. I hope the option includes appropriate precautions for the safety of the baby and mother.
Homeschooling. I support parents' right to choose how and where they educate their children. Homeschooling is an excellent option for parents.
