After speaking with all sides that would be affected by this bill, I made the decision last night to end my efforts to present and pass HB246, HOA Amendments. It became clear the bill in its current state would not gain the support necessary to pass through the legislature without extreme concessions that would make the goal and intent of the bill impossible to achieve. Since the bill is with the House Rules Committee, I’ve requested the Committee place a hold on the bill indefinitely, which they have granted. Still, I encourage unit/lot owners within HOAs and declarants to work closely together during the period of administrative control in a more open way, with greater transparency and with a spirit to make HOA developments throughout Utah the best communities they can be for their residents.
