Standing Firm on Principles and Utah-First Values
As a Utah Representative serving District 52, my responsibility is to the people I represent and to the conservative principles that guide my work. This commitment shapes the legislation I sponsor, the votes I cast, and the way I operate my campaigns.
Recently, my campaign received an unsolicited contribution from the Committee to Expand the Middle Class Candidate Committee, a California-based political organization backed by Airbnb. At first glance, it may have seemed harmless. But when I took a closer look, it simply didn’t pass the smell test.
While I do accept contributions from organizations and PACs outside of Utah when their priorities align with my conservative principles and my Utah-first vision, this one was different. After reviewing the nature of this committee and its broader political activity, I determined that their objectives may not fully reflect the values and priorities of Utahns. For that reason, I made the decision to return the contribution.
The people of District 52 have placed their trust in me to represent their interests, not the priorities of outside entities. That trust means every decision I make—whether in the Utah Legislature or on the campaign trail—must be rooted in what serves Utah best. It also means guarding against even the perception that outside money could influence my work.
My campaign will continue to be funded by individuals, organizations, and PACs that share our common vision: a Utah that is economically stable, fiercely independent, committed to protecting personal freedoms, and guided by the values of its people rather than agendas imported from elsewhere.
Returning this campaign contribution was not a difficult decision. It was the right decision. It reflects my ongoing commitment to political transparency, principled leadership, and keeping Utah values first. My focus remains on serving District 52 with integrity and working every day to protect the freedoms and prosperity that make Utah exceptional.
