Why I’m Running for Assistant Whip

Cory Maloy as Assistant Whip

This isn’t about chasing a title. It’s about serving our caucus and helping each of you succeed.

I’m running for Assistant Whip because I’ve been through the battles many of you have faced. I bring a depth of experience that fits this moment. I’ve chaired two of the most active committees in the House. I’ve worked through high-pressure negotiations, passed complex legislation, and helped lead when the path forward wasn’t always clear. I’ve learned how to stay steady, build trust, and focus on what matters. That kind of experience doesn’t just help get results, it helps bring people together and keep the team moving forward.

That’s what I do. And that’s what I’ll bring to this role. I’m not looking to climb a ladder. I’m stepping up to serve.

I’ll show up with the same leadership style you’ve already seen—calm, prepared, and focused. Here’s what that looks like:

A steady hand when things get noisy. I don’t react emotionally. I don’t make things dramatic. I stay level, even when the heat is on. That matters when you’re in a fight for a good bill or when the caucus needs a voice that brings people back to the facts.

A clear strategy to help you win. I’ve built coalitions. I’ve passed tough legislation. I’ve helped others strengthen their arguments and work through hard conversations. I’ll bring that same experience to help us stay focused and win where it counts.

A servant mindset. This is not about control. It’s about helping. I want to stand next to you and support the work you’re already doing. I’ll make time for you. I’ll back you up. And I’ll help you be more effective.

I’ve also built something called PrepPoint. It’s a fast, focused messaging tool that helps clarify complicated bills and turn them into solid talking points, clean committee language, or press statements. I use it all the time in my own work. If elected, I’ll offer it to you whenever you need it. It’s one more way I’ll help lighten the load and sharpen our message.

We don’t need more noise. We need clarity. We need people who can stay grounded, stay focused, and help the team keep moving forward. That’s what I bring.

We’re not just passing bills. We’re building trust. We’re shaping the future of our state. And I’d be honored to serve you in this role.

If you ever want to talk about what you need from leadership, call me. I’ll pick up

Rep. Cory Maloy
