2020 Utah General Session Underway: HB185 to repeal Tax Reform Bill

Today started the 2020 General Session of the Utah Legislature. The first floor session of the first day is usually devoted to a little pomp and circumstance. It is always a touching and exceptional experience to start with a prayer from one of our clergy here in Utah followed by the Utah National Guard Color Guard bringing in the colors. Everyone stands at attention, hands on heart. Then the Pledge of Allegiance and a warm rendition of the National Anthem by an HS a cappella choir.

I was assigned by the Speaker to lead other House reps to inform Governor Herbert the legislature was organized and ready to conduct business. That was fun.

Then it was down to business. We had several early bills read for the first and second time and placed on the third reading calendar for presentation to the House floor then debate and vote. HB185, the bill to repeal SB2001, the Tax Reform Bill was placed on the Third reading calendar. It will be debated and voted on tomorrow. https://le.utah.gov/~2020/bills/static/HB0185.html
